Facilities provided by this Department

Free residential education facility for ST & SC Students

  • There are 34 nos. of residential hostels attached to with 29 nos. of schools in 16 Blocks of Ganjam District.
  • There are 18 nos. of residential Hostels attached with Schools of S&ME Deptt. in 13 Blocks of this District.
  • In both the hostels, Government is providing all amenities and facilities for free lodging and boarding of students.

Free residential education for English medium education

A new programme called Urban Education Programme (ANWESHA) is being implemented in the District for English medium education of ST & SC students. This programme is being implemented in 5 nos. of Kendriya Vidyalayas and 9 nos. of reputed private schools. 989 nos. of students are pursuing their education presently. All the facilities for their education is being borne by ST & SC Development Department.

Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST, SC, OBC & Minority students

Pre-Matric scholarship is being provided to all the ST & SC students from class VI to X annually @ Rs 180 for class VI-VII boys and Rs. 240 for class VI-VII girls, Rs.240 for class VIII boys and Rs 300 for class VIII girls, Rs.3000 for IX-X class ST boys (day scholar) and Rs. 3950 for IX-X class girls. Rs. 7500 for Class I to X boarders (boys) and Rs. 8000 for girl boarders.

Post-Matric Scholarship for ST, SC, OBC & Minority students

Post-Matric scholarship is being provided to the ST,SC & OBC students pursuing their studies in different Post-Matric institutions under various streams like. Arts, Science,Commerce, Engineering, Medical, Law etc. the above scholarship includes both for academic and hostel fees. The Post- Matric scholarship per year ranges from Rs. 1600 to 5.5 lakh depending on the course annually.

Implementation of Protective legislations like PCR & POA Act.

Different protective legislative like Protection of Civil Rights Act (PCR) & Prevention of Atrocity Act (PoA). In implementation of both the Acts Police department is performing a major role. Monitory relief and further free legal services have been provided as per provision.

Inter Caste marriage incentive

Inter caste marriage is one of the protective legislation under PCR Act. This is being implemented to remove untouchability from the society. In this Act, presently an amount of Rs. 2.50 lakh is being deposited in the joint Account of inter caste married couple for 3 years.

Financial relief for atrocity victims.

Sanction of financial assistance to the Atrocity victims is one of the components of POA Act. Under this Act, financial compensation for Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 8 Lakh is being provided to the atrocity victims as per the nature the atrocity committed to the ST & SC peoples

Titles under forest Right Act.

Implementation of Scheduled Tribe & Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognisation of Forest Right ) Act is a progressive legislation to provide titles for recognisation of Forest land occupied by the Tribals before 13.12.2005. Under this Act, till date 6341 nos. of Individual Forest Right titles and 24 community Forest Right titles are being issued in favour of the above number of Tribals of this District. Since, this is a continues process, further steps are being taken to cover all eligible tribal households of this District.

Financial assistance for Women SHGs (ST & SC)

Under Odisha Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribe Financial Development Corporation, Financial assistance @ Rs. 1.25 lakh is being provided to the eligible ST/SC Self Help Groups as backward subsidies after bank linkage and release of principal amount by the sponsoring bank. Till date, there are 1589 nos. of Women SHGs have been provided with financial assistance for improvement of their livelihood through different income generating schemes.

Training & placement of ST, SC, OBC & Minority youth

Financial assistance for Women SHGs (ST & SC) Under Odisha Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribe Financial Development Corporation, Skill development and placement linked employability training and placement are being provided to ST/SC/OBC & minority youth through different agencies on trades like Computer Training, Garment making, A.C repairing, Driving, Nursing & Bedside assistant training etc. the trained youth are also being engaged in different establishments for their livelihood improvement.
