Activities under Horticulture sector in Ganjam district

The conceptual definition of Horticulture among the farming community is basically the production & post harvest management of flower, fruits & vegetables through advanced, scientific & modern technology. Besides Mushroom, Medicinal plants, Bee keeping, mechanization etc are also dealt in Horticulture. The aim of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022 can only be achieved by conversion of medium & high land to cultivation of fruits, flowers & vegetables etc from traditional crops like Rice, Ragi, Black gram, Horse gram etc. Ganjam district is fortunately blessed with very conducive climate for Horticulture. The geographical area of the district is 8070.60 sqm. Out of the total farm family, about 88% are small & marginal farmers. Out of 4,34,000 ha. of cultivable land about 3,01,380 ha. are medium & high lands. These medium & high lands are to be diverted for cultivation of horticultural crops like fruit, vegetable, flower etc by which the doubling of income could be possible.

    • Medium density Mango plantation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 12,400/- per ha. over 3 years in ratio 60:20:20.
    • Pomegranate plantation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 24,000/- per ha. over 3 years in ratio 60:20:20.
    • Guava plantation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 19,170/- per ha. over 3 years in ratio 60:20:20.
    • Hybrid Papaya plantation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 30,000/- per ha. over 2 years in ratio 75:25.
    • Tissue Culture Banana cultivation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 40,985/- per ha. over 2 years in ratio 75:25.
    • Banana Sucker cultivation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 26,000/- per ha. over 2 years in 75:25 ratio.
    • Open cultivation of Rose – Maximum subsidy Rs. 40,000/- & Rs. 25,000/- per ha. in one instalment for SF/MF & big farmers respectively.
    • Small – nominal & big farmers for Tuberose Flower cultivation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 60,000/- & Rs. 37,500/- per ha. over 1 year.
    • Small – nominal & big farmers for Marigold Flower cultivation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 16,000/- & Rs. 10,000/- per ha. over 1 year.
    • Hybrid vegetable cultivation – Maximum subsidy Rs. 20,000/- per ha. over 1 year.
    • Rejuvenation of old & senile Cashew/ Mango orchard – Maximum subsidy Rs. 20,000/- per ha. over 1 year.
    • Digging of farm pond of size (20mX20mX3m) with plastic lining – Maximum subsidy Rs. 75,000/- per ha.
    • Protected cultivation in bamboo & GI structured green house – Subsidy respectively Rs. 225/- & Rs. 590/- per sqm under NHM & Rs. 422 & Rs. 168 per sqm under NHM.
    • Crop subsidy inside protected structure – Maximum subsidy Rs. 535/- & Rs. 595/- per sqm. respectively. Plastic mulching – Maximum subsidy Rs. 20,000/- per ha.
    • Construction (9X6) sqm on farm pack house – Maximum subsidy Rs. 20,000/- per beneficiary.
    • 30 MT Cool Chamber – Maximum subsidy Rs. 5,25,000/- per beneficiary.
    • 5 MT Solar Cold Store – Maximum subsidy Rs. 5,25,000/- per beneficiary.
    • 25 MT low cost Onion Storage Structure – Maximum subsidy Rs. 87,500/- per beneficiary.
    • Mushroom spawn production unit– Maximum subsidy Rs. 6,00,000/- per beneficiary.
    • Mushroom production – Maximum subsidy Rs. 8,00,000/- per beneficiary.
    • Exposure visit & study training of farmers inside the State – Assistance Rs. 1,000/- per farmer.
    • Exposure visit – cum- training outside the State – Assistance Rs. 5,000/- per farmer.
    • Establishment of new Coconut orchard – Maximum subsidy Rs. 16,800/- per ha. (175 plants) over one year.
    • Cashew plantation through Rastriya Krushi Vikash Yojana (RKVY) (RAFTAR) – Maximum subsidy Rs. 20,000/- per ha. over 3 years in ratio 60:20:20.
    • 100% Assistance SF/MF/ST/SC farmers for cultivation of Mango/ Cashew/ Lemon/ Coconut etc on beneficiary’s land under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
    • Pradhan Mantri Krushi Sinchayan Yojana – Maximum subsidy 80% & 90% for other farmers & SF/MF respectively.
